Nearly 2000 industries have to adapt their wastewater treatment system to comply with the regulation.
The aim of ANAM is for companies to re-utilize the wastewater or, if they are releasing it into the environment make it contaminant free.
The Environment Quality Protection director Natalia Young said that these measures are necessary to avoid the contamination of rivers and creeks polluting whole areas that will take decades to rehabilitate.
Last month her department imposed sanctions of almost $1 million to companies that were polluting the environment.
