91 octane gasoline will be a maximum of $2.77, 95 octane $2.94 and light diesel $2.85
The prices will be valid until November 5, when the costs will be reviewed again.
However, the oil companies are not happy with the arrangement, because they do not agree with the way the government is calculating the parity prices.
The government promised to give the oil company a subsidy of $6 million.
But they have not received any moneys yet, adding to the list of complaints they have against the present agreement.
The oil companies have always have imposed fuel prices following the international market and not from what the Panamanian government decides.
Until last Wednesday the price of a barrel of oil was $66.75, but OPEC wants to maintain the prices at$80.
Many Panamanians want fuel prices to continue yhe downward trend, but it is unlikely bearing in mind the attitude of the oil companies, that want to maintain profits.
Oil futures are uncertainand luctuate almost daily.
