PANAMA. Civil servants of the Electoral Tribunal, the Passport Department and the Public Ministry may be involved in a criminal network dedicated to the falsification of Panamanian passports.
Police have reportedly investigated a home in Brisas del Golf where the network is supposedly located on Monday. Four women were detained and several personal computers, documents and a firearm were taken for evidence.
Evidence suggests that the members of the network used original documents belonging to Panamanian citizens as the criteria for the passport, and then used photographs of Dominican foreigners in order to help them leave the country, according to early police reports.
