PANAMA. Delinquents are uncontrollable. In less than two days, two members of the Institutional Protection Service (SPI, ) of the Presidency of the Republic have been attacked.

The first attack was against a presidential outpost driver, whose car was shot at on Wednesday while driving near the Amelia Denis de Icaza park in El Chorillo.

Yesterday, a bullet grazed the left leg of Gumercindo Lopez, bodyguard to Panama’s second Vice-President, Ruben Arosemena, while driving in the San Pedro area at 1:30 a.m.

Another report states that a sergeant of the National Police was shot in the back, in San Miguelito.

The director of the National Police, Francisco Troya, said that the institution is strengthening intelligence, the process of information gathering and the interaction with the Judicial Investigation Directive (DIJ).
