David bishop asks to revise duration of campaigns

Monsignor Jose Luis Lacunza, president of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference and Bishop of the Diocese of David said after voting that he recommends revising the electoral campaign period to avoid excessive expenses in publicity, and to keep the elections from growing tiresome.

The bishop also recommends making the list of the candidates’ political donors public.

Panamanians have grown tired of the seemingly never-ending electoral period, which has lasted over a year and has been characterized by constant attacks from one party to the other.
