PANAMA. The Fourth Tribunal of General Business of the Supreme Court will request that a disciplinary procedure be opened against the judge of the First Civil Circuit of Chiriqui Sergio González and that he be sanctioned according to the law.

According to the denouncing document, judge Gonzalez was driving under the influence of alcohol when he was detained by the police.

Gonzalez refused to be breathalized arguing that the policemen were rude. After that he identified himself as a judge and demanded that they let him go.

The Fourth Tribunal requested that the Superior Tribunal starts proceeding against Gonzalez and that he will be sanctioned on the ground that his conduct was unbecoming for an officer who swore to keep the law.

This is the fifth judge who has faced disciplinary action in the last two weeks. The Supreme Court is investigating more cases.
