LOS ANGELES. Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall turns 85 today. Bacall‘s sultry roles in film noir movies "To Have and Have Not", "The Big Sleep" and "Dark Passage" earned her Hollywood immortality, and now finally she is to get an honorary Oscar in November. Lauren, who was married to screen legend Humphrey Bogart until his death in 1957, has never received an Oscar, although she was nominated for her supporting role in the 1996 movie "The Mirror Has Two Faces".

Born Betty Joan Perske, her parents were Jewish immigrants, their families having come from France, Poland, Romania and Germany.

Bacall has written two autobiographies, Lauren Bacall By Myself (1978) and Now (1994).
