Three colombians were detained, one woman and two men. Two of them were shot by a police officer.

The residence of former Panamanian  President Mireya Moscoso was the setting of a shooting last night, in what police officers believe was an attempt of theft to the former Head of Government, Arnulfo Escalona.

The shooting happened at Moscoso's house, located in Carrasquilla, corregimiento San Francisco (a district subdivision). Moscoso and Escalona were not wounded.

Three colombians were detained, one woman and two men. Two of them were shot by a police officer. The woman was shot in the shoulder and one of the two men was shot in the thigh and died hours later.

President Juan Carlos Varela went to Moscoso's house, which will remain cordoned off by the police while research is conducted.

The latest report about this case comes from the Head of National Security, Rodolfo Aguilera, who stated that one of the persons who took part in the shooting was detained inside an airplane heading to Colombia.

"The detainees arrived on 12 October and were leaving today, but one of them changed his flight date and was captured inside the aircraft", so Aguilera in an interview this morning.
Aguilera explained that ten years ago only 9 murders per 100, 000 inhabitants occured. Currently, the figures have doubled.
