The technicians who were trying to repair the broken pipe had the additional hassle of having to dig through the floor of a house, which was built on top of the mainline many years ago.

The job took longer that expected as they had to evacuate the house, get rid of the water and clear mud from the area before they could get to the pipe.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants, many of them elderly people tried to cope without the vital liquid.

Water cuts in Bethania are a regular event, but normally only last a couple of hours.
