According to a letter that La Estrella gained access to, the Public Works Minister, Benjamin Colamarco, has the “impression” that the company Proyectos y Construcciones S.A. (PYCSA) “does not have enough capacity or interest in finishing” phase II of the Corredor Norte.
The letter refers to the second part of the concession given to the Mexican company, which connects the current Corredor Norte with the sector of Brisas del Golf in San Miguelito, which would serve as an alternative to a congested Via Tocumen.
The letter asks how the Ministry can verify if PYCSA has recovered its investment from the sector already constructed, and if they will be able to finish the awaited second phase.
The letter also requested a meeting on December 4, but the meeting was never held because the company asked for an extension.
Meanwhile worries about Phase II of the Corredor Norte continue at the ministry, due to alarming delays.
The matter gets more complicated, as the the company is currently under judicial investigation.
