BUCHAREST. Frenchman Gilles Simon, seeded two, retained his title at the ATP tournament in Bucharest on Sunday, beating Spanish sixth seed Carlos Moya 6-3, 6-4.

Simon, ranked 17 in the world, pulled off a break in either set to win in 1hr 30min. It was the 23-year-old's third title of the season and the fifth of his career, having won in Bucharest and Marseille last year. “I like this tournament. I've always played well here,” said Simon, who picked up a cheque for 59,100 dollars for his win after his 40th win of the campaign - one coming in Toronto over Roger Federer. Former world number one Moya suffered his second final loss here after also losing the trophy match in 1996.
