When you take friends to dinner on a Saturday night at your local Indian eatery, chat with the wait staff and the owner, and drop by for a glass of wine on Sunday, you don’t expect a major surprise when you return on Tuesday (Monday is closing day). But that’s what happened to a host of regulars at the Taj Mahal on Calle 42. When they arrived the restaurant was stripped bare, including the TV that entertained diners with films of Indian weddings, complete with dancing routines. All gone alas.
