Raid.A press release from The Ministry of Foreign Relations says that following a raid last Monday by US Immigration authorities in a manufacturing facility in Mississippi, where 595 people were detained, including Panamanians, diplomatic representatives of Panama have been instructed to assist the nationals and their families.

“We are worried about the situation of the Panamanians detained in Mississippi and we have instructed that all affected Panamanians and their families should be assisted,” confirmed the Minister of Foreign Relations, Samuel Lewis Navarro.

Panama’s consul in New Orleans, Erich Rodriguez informed that a provisional list named of 23 Panamanians that were detained.

The spokeswoman of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that the arrests happened in a manufacturing facility of Howard Industries Inc in Laurel, Mississippi.

The Panamanian Chancery announced it has been attentive to the situation in order to assist in any possible way.
