PANAMA. The Public Ministry (MP) has yet to determine the exact value of the statue pieces in “Juegos de Antaño”, which were stolen in September 2008 from the deposit in Parque Omar, San Francisco, and whose whereabouts are still unknown.

This has led the second anti corruption prosecutor, Ramses Barrera, to request pictures of the bronze statues built in 2000, during the former administration, from print media outlets.

With this strategy, experts will try to establish the estimated value of the statues, said Barrera.

For the case, the prosecutor ordered a sworn declaration from more than 40 officers of the Institutional Protection Service (SPI) and the office of the First Lady, including the administrator of Parque Omar, Mingthoy Giro.

Up to now Barrera has issues charges against 11 officers.

No one has been detained yet but all of them have had restrictions imposed upon as the investigation continues.
