The Martinelli broom has moved up and down the Amador Causeway and has now reached the newly constructed breakwater, covered with freshly laid concrete, and scores of luxury boats, belonging to members of the Fishing and Yacht Club. This was, you will remember, the cause of much discussion and public protest when original plans for the Cinta Costera were first announced and it was assumed that the private club, on public property would move. But no, after back room discussions the club and its hidden list of 600 members remained with a land concession estimated at over $150 million dollars.

Howls of outrage brought no reaction from the previous administration, and to the original plan was added a new sea wall, even, a line of palm trees. What part of this was paid for by the Club, and what by the citizenry, via the government it has just thrown out? That is what President Martinelli aims to find out. We wish him luck.
