PANAMA. A month after a placing the first stone in the development project at the former Howard base, the first stage is advancing at at a steady rhythm.

London Regional Panama, the project developer, is working on the first stage of the project, which consists of two buildings and three storage depots that should be delivered by August 2009.

By December of 2008, 40 percent of the offices in these buildings had been rented out. In total, there will be 40 offices.

Among the companies planning on setting up base in the development are two maritime companies, one printing multinational, one logistics company, and one motor repairing firm.

Henry Kardonsky, manager of London Regional Panama, said that the infrastructure and facilities for the installation of drainage systems, among other services are being built.

Kardonsky stated that even though the crisis has forced entrepreneurs who will be setting up shop in the development area to redesign their strategies in Panama, the companies maintain an interest in operation in this country.

The construction of a city center will start in March, and will include shops and an apartment building. Pending government approval, promotion could begin in January.
