PANAMA. Panama attracts immigrants who are looking for a better life in the United States.

Last Tuesday 28 Somalians were captured by the Panamanian authorities in the Bocas del Toro province.

According to the Immigration Department the illegal immigrants were planning to ask for asylum in Panama.

A few weeks ago another 11 Somalians were found in the Chiman area, Darien province.

The immigration authorities also arrested over a month back, 14 people who were coming from Bangladesh. These men used a route that is well known by human traders that go through Darien due to the isolation of the area.

Apparently the illegal immigrants travel by ship from Africa and Asia. The trip can take a month. They arrive in South America, cross the continent by foot or using boats until they arrive to Panama and Colombia. Their final destination is the United States.
