After 14 reported cases of the A/H1N1 virus in the Comarca of the Ngobe-Bugle, the Ministry of Health is stepping up its campaign to educate health workers, traditional authorities, community leaders and the general population about ways to help prevent the spread of the disease. The Chiriqui head of the Ministry of Health, Jose Luis Castillo, said that in particular the authorities are focussing their attention on the border areas with Costa Rica where many inigenous people cross to look for work in the coffee plantations. He also said the border needs to be better controlled.
