PANAMA. President Martin Torrijos announced yesterday that the National Police director, commissioner Francisco Troya, would be retiring on July 1, the day of the inauguration of president-elect Ricardo Martinelli.

Torrijos, who granted Troya the Order of Belisario Porras for his work in the institution, made the announcement during a graduation ceremony ay the Police Academy.

Troya, named last November will be repaced by the former military man Gustavo Perez, designated by Ricardo Martinelli.

Torrijos recognized Troya’s work in the last eight months, and thanked him for his professional zeal and track record.

A career policeman, there would be no job prospects for Troya after the replacement.
