NIGHTLIFE-THEMED FAIR: It only takes a quick stop by Calle Uruguay on a weekend night to realize that night life options abound in Panama. From lounges to bars to clubs, the city has got them all, and their close proximity allows party-goers to hop in and out from one location to another. “Feria de la Rumba 2008” on November 13 –15, will go a step further. For three nights, all that means fun, party, and as Panamanians call is, “rumba”, will gather under ATLAPA’s roof.

Expect the hottest discotheques, your favorite bars, and the craziest and most innovative ideas to promote brands, products and services. Expect the top musical hits, carnival-style music and dancing with “charangas” and “murgas” in the audience, national and international artists, international electronic DJs, you name it. For three nights, ATLAPA will turn into the city’s biggest night club.

The fair has been promoted for a while now, in places like Guru and Royal Casino. Tickets are $10 general admission and $25 VIP, which allows you to attend all three days, and are available at Blockbuster.

BIKINI CONTEST HITS TOWN: On November 14, Miss Reef 2008 will also be held as one of fair’s activities. 8 girls will participate in this bikini contest, and the winner will receive a brand-new Mazda car, cash, and a trip to Costa Rica to participate in the International version of the competition. The second and third places will receive cash prizes. Dancing performances and special effects will complement the girls on stage. According to organizers, the girl with the best body and attitude will win. Let the competition begin!

VETERAN’S DAY: It might not be among the Panamanian holidays in November, but at least you can celebrate it. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3822 invites all to celebrate Veteran’s Day this Saturday November 8 at the Balboa Yacht Club from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 on presale and $8 at the door, and include BBQ ribs or chicken, boston baked beans and other treats. For tickets, contact Boston Patterson (6706-8353) or Richard Naylor (6527-8240).
