Perez Balladares went to the Third Anti-corruption Prosecution Office to give a statement about his alleged links with the Lucky Games casinos which, according to the daily La Prensa , paid him substantial amounts of money for casino’s concessions.
When he was asked if the accusations were true he said: “The enterprise Lucky Games has its representatives and they are registered with the Control Gaming Board.”
The former president said the he is being represented by lawyer, Guillermina McDonald, who presented all the legal documentation about how the games of chance regulations started in 1993.
The lawyer said that to her knowledge Perez Balladares does not have any shares on invested interest in the Lucky Games company.
The daily La Prensa in a series of reports said that Perez Balladares had received substantial amounts of money from Lucky Games, after he granted it concessions when all the casinos in Panama were privatized.
