Celebrating Xmas

PANAMA. The American Society of Panama organizes several events throughout the year for both its members and friends.

In true Christmas spirit, the organization invites all to attend its annual Christmas Party at Plaza Paitilla Inn next Wednesday December 10.

There will be disco dancing, Christmas carolers by Cantu Panama, and a buffet dinner.

The dinner menu will include salads (mixed, Waldoff with chicken), cheese plates, fresh fruit trays, ceviches, entrees will include chicken, meat, turkey and vegetable dishes, and there will be four desserts to choose from.

Dress code for the party is dress/pant suits for ladies and guayabera long sleeve shirt with coat tie optional for men.

The party will run from 7 – 11:00 p.m. and tickets arebv $35 for members and $40 for non-members. For more information: American.society.panama@gmail.com.

Members of the Society of Panama should note that the organization is able to do its enhanced scholarship programs, the charity work and Christmas Parties for the Escuela De los Estados Unidos (which was held on Wed. Dec 3) and the Escuela John F. Kennedy (to be held on Friday Dec. 12 at 9 a.m.) thanks to the dues that members pay. Over 1000 kids receive food and gifts from Santa in each of these aforementioned schools.

On that note, the Membership Renewal fee is $40.00 and should be paid by April1 09.

The American Society welcomes all former members to take advantage of this opportunity and rejoin the organization by just paying the renewal fee of $40 by 01 April 2009. After April payments will be for $50.

The membership fee for first time members, is $50.00 per family.

Anyone joining during the months of October, November and December are also paying the dues for the following year, 2009.

For next year, the first event planned by the Society will be a special Dry Season Picnic they are hosting on Saturday January 24 at the Balboa Yacht Club.

This is both an Annual Membership Appreciation Picnic and a New Membership Drive event.

There will be a charge of $10 for members and $25 for non-members for this event to help defray the cost.
